Branson Area Features

Exciting Attractions for Family Bonding

  By: Ladona Weathers

Outdoor fun, museums and great entertainment have made Branson a vacation destination for families of all ages and sizes. We know families need a variety of options when planning how to spend a day of fun, so we’ve gathered a few ideas that we know you’ll love.

Cool Museums

If learning something new while having a great time is on your to-do list, then you’ll want to add Branson’s museums to your itinerary. The Titanic Museum Attraction offers many hands-on activities and displays just for kids. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Odditorium is jaw-dropping amazement from wall to wall. Your kids will love the interactive exhibits and learning outrageous facts as you wind your way through the museum. Did you know the World’s Largest Toy Museum is in Branson? It’s true! Parents love sharing their memories of playing with their favorite childhood toys, plus learning their history and interesting facts. Just down the street from the World’s Largest Toy Museum is the Dinosaur Museum, filled with life-size dinosaur replicas that you can explore during your self-guided tour.

Flashy Arcades

What kid doesn’t love to play games and win prizes? Branson is home to several fun, state-of-the-art arcades. The Family Fun Center is located adjacent to the world’s largest pizza at Cicis. Here you can grab a bite to eat and have a blast playing every type of arcade game imaginable. At Branson Landing, stop into Arcade City. This huge new arcade not only has great games but is comfortable for the whole family. The non-game players can relax or explore the Landing while you load up on tickets and prizes.

Tee Up With Mini-Golf

The laughs and memories you can make while trying to direct your colored golf ball into its hole at the end of a putting green should not be underestimated! Branson has over a dozen mini-golf courses, both indoor and outdoor, and all with their brand of fun. As you drive down Hwy. 76, you’ll see several options including Shoot for the Stars, a Hollywood-themed course located at the Hollywood Entertainment Center. After you’ve completed your golf game, head inside to the Hollywood Wax Museum, Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors or Castle of Chaos, a 5-D ride. If you’ve explored the “main drag” of Branson, you’ve probably seen a yellow airplane that looks like it landed on the side of a hill, this is Lost Treasure Mini Golf. Here, golfers ride a mining car to help Professor Hacker search for ancient gold and diamond mines as they wind through the 18-hole course. Just off Hwy. 76 is the Dinosaur Canyon Mini Golf, featuring huge dinosaurs and a volcano spewing lava as you play through 18 holes. Some other equally fun mini-golf courses you might want to check out while visiting Branson include Back to the 50’s, Brookside and Greatest Adventures.

Tons of Amusements in One Location

Finding a location with a variety of activities and tons of fun in one stop is a vacation WIN! And this year is the best year yet to plan a visit to Silver Dollar City. One of the world’s most anticipated roller coasters opens in 2018. The Time Traveler is the fastest, steepest and tallest complete-circuit spinning coaster in the world and it opens this spring. Also at Silver Dollar City are festivals filled with fun entertainment and unique eats among the anchor shows, rides and hospitality visitors have loved for over 50 years.

Grand Country’s Fun Spot is also exploding with things to do… all under one roof. Stop for a bite to eat at Papa Grand’s Pizza, and then venture into the Fun Spot for some seriously good times. First, you’ll notice lots of arcade games, but that’s only the beginning. Bumper cars, bowling, a laser tag, laser maze, and a foam ball area for the littlest visitors are all right here. You’ll even find a fun barnyard themed mini-golf course just outside the arcade. The newest addition to the Grand Country Fun Spot is the giant indoor go-kart track, so no matter what Mother Nature is dishing out you can have a blast indoors. Another super fun location with several activities is Bigfoot on the Strip. You cannot miss their star attraction, the Bigfoot Action Tower. At 200 feet, the top of the tower is the highest point in the city. The tower features two rides: Gravity Bomb, a free-fall ride that drops you from the top of the tower; and Saddle Sling, a two-person saddle ride that launches you high into the air and then lets you tumble end-over-end back down. After you’ve defied gravity, check out the mini-golf course, arcade, and Yeti Play Zone & Monkey Jump.

Fun on the Water

The beautiful lakes in Branson are a great source of fun for visitors of all ages. Table Rock Lake is perfect for enjoying all types of water sports. Boating, fishing, swimming, skiing and tubing are all fun ways for your family to spend a day on the water. There are public beaches at parks operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The most popular public beach in Branson is Moonshine Beach. Here you’ll find a swim area, playground, and public boat launch. It’s the perfect place to bring your beach chair or raft and soak up some Ozark Mountain sunshine. If you don’t have a boat with you in Branson but wish to get on the water, you’ll have no problem renting everything you need from one of the area marinas. One unique way to take in the views of Table Rock Lake is parasailing. State Park Marina can set you up for some high-flying fun! While at State Park Marina also check out the Spirit of America, sailing catamaran. Help the crew operate the vessel, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Sightseeing and swimming excursions are also available.

In addition to Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo winds its way around Branson. Lake Taneycomo is an award-winning trout-fishing location, but not where you’ll want to swim since the water averages a cool 48 degrees. Besides fishing, a great way to enjoy Lake Taneycomo is aboard one of the Main Street Lake Cruises that sail from Branson Landing. The Lake Queen is a paddlewheeler that replicates earlier boats that sailed these waters. During the lunch cruise you’ll enjoy storytelling by your captain and a delicious meal. For a luxury experience, check out the Landing Princess Dinner Cruise. You’ll sail on a luxury yacht, taking in beautiful views of the Lake and its rock bluff shoreline while enjoying a cash bar and delicious food.

Live Performances

The number one thing that sets Branson apart from anywhere else in the world is the live shows. Almost all of Branson’s stage productions offer something for everyone, including kids. Some shows that are specifically geared towards families with kids. The Amazing Pets show at Grand Country Music Hall features exciting acts and tricks from a troupe of skilled dogs and trained housecats. Buckets and Boards performs a limited engagement at The Starlite Theatre. This percussion comedy show is the #1 most requested show on Disney Cruise Lines and Branson audiences love it, too. Dolly Parton’s Stampede offers a fast-paced dinner show that has been wowing families visiting Branson for years. The Acrobats of China featuring the New Shanghai Circus and the Amazing Acrobats of Shanghai are both high-energy shows featuring the astounding acrobatic feats of Chinese performers.

With all these available attractions and activities, we’re sure your family will have a great vacation! Enjoy your time together in Branson laughing, playing and creating memories together.
