69th Annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage

The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage is a 69-year old annual event in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park featuring professionally-guided walks to explore the region's rich natural and cultural resources. More than 850 visitors from more than 32 states and several countries participated in 2018. Programs include fungi, ferns, wildflowers, trees and shrubs, medicinal plants, insects (terrestrial and aquatic), salamanders and snakes, birds, mammals (bats to bears), journaling, art and photography, and park history.  Gatlinburg and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. 865-436-7318 x222

12th Annual Mountain Man Memorial March

The Mountain Man Memorial March began as a way to honor 1LT Frank B. Walkup, IV, a 2005 University of Tennessee graduate and ROTC alumnus, who was killed in action in Iraq in 2007. A group of UT Cadets was looking for a way to honor 1LT Walkup and his family. They began a 26.2-mile march with each Cadet carrying a 35-pound rucksack. The UT Ranger team carried a picture of 1LT Walkup and presented it, along with a Gold Star flag to his mother at the completion of the event. The following year, almost 40 fallen service members from all branches of the United States Military, and their families were honored, with marchers/runners representing 7 states. Each year, the number of Runners and Marchers has continued to grow, and the MMMM has become one of the largest Gold Star Family events on the east coast. Registration and fees apply. Earth Day 5K Night Run/Walk

Music in the Mountains Spring Parade
The Music in the Mountains Spring Parade in Pigeon Forge will showcase the rich musical heritage of the Great Smoky Mountains while spotlighting the variety of entertainment provided by the many theaters located in the popular vacation destination alongside high school marching bands, dance groups, choral groups, and baton twirlers from Tennessee, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Georgia and more! First Independence Day Parade in the Nation
