Escape to the farm at Wessex Hundred for an unforgettable wine and food experience.
Wessex Hundred, the 300-acre farm that is home to The Williamsburg Winery, Wedmore Place, Café Provençal and The Gabriel Archer Tavern, offers a one-of-a-kind wine and food experience in the heart of Colonial America.
The Williamsburg Winery, one of Virginia’s most acclaimed wineries, was established in 1985 by the Duffeler family. Its wines have won numerous national and international awards including the prestigious Virginia Governor’s Cup, awarded to the state’s highest rated wine, for its flagship red blend, Adagio.
The 38+ acres of vineyards offer a beautiful backdrop to the old-world-style building that houses the winery. Tours of the facility and wine tastings are held daily. Your guided tour includes a stroll through the barrel cellar and a visit to the production area. The tour concludes with a tasting of seven wines served in an etched glass that is yours to take home as a keepsake. Regular and reserve tastings are also available daily.
Extensive Reserve Tours are available daily by appointment only in the Private Wine Cellar. Sample some of the winery’s limited production wines, including the winery’s flagship wine, Adagio, and selected older vintages. Assorted cheese and crackers will complement your tasting, and you will take home an elegant etched crystal wine glass to commemorate your experience.
The Gabriel Archer Tavern provides guests a memorable farm-to-fork dining experience that’s both delicious and nourishing. Relax and reconnect while dining outside under the wisteria-covered terrace complete with breathtaking vineyard views. Savor a glass of wine and a delicious cheese and charcuterie platter featuring an assortment of local ingredients served with a crispy French baguette, or one of their handcrafted sandwiches served with a mixed green salad. Lunch is served daily as well as brunch on Sundays.
Also located on the grounds of Wessex Hundred is Wedmore Place, a 28-room European-style inn secluded from the “madding crowd.” Café Provençal, a fine dining establishment featuring fresh and flavorful French-Mediterranean cuisine as well as a variety of wines from around the world, serves dinner Tuesday-Sunday.
